Obituary of Rose Panyi

It is with a very broken heart that our most inspirational woman, our mom, has passed, Rose Panyi (Kovacs) at the Chatham-Kent Hospice after a very brief courageous battle with cancer. 

Very best friend & mom of Laura Panyi (Chatham) & predeceased by son, Brian David (2012). 
Rose was the daughter of the late Daniel & Maria Kovacs Sr.

Cherished sister of Mary Szanto of Chatham. 

Predeceased by brother, Daniel Kovacs Jr., sisters, Emmy Fodor, Ida Luki, Margaret Bartholomew & Helen Leko. 

Survived by many nieces & nephews. 

Mom's life was a journey of many obstacles, she overcame by her strength, intelligence & perseverance. She was a single, young mom that left a very abusive marriage with two small children, no job & no money. With such determination, she returned to college later in life and was hired at Union Gas where she made many close friends and had many good times. After retirement from the Gas, she enjoyed travelling, golfing, day trips, many laughs with family and with her dearest friends of many years, Eveyln Larkin & Ann Kopriva. 

Family to receive friends at McKinlay Funeral Home, 459 St. Clair Street, Chatham on Thursday, June 1, 2017 from 3:00 - 5:00 p.m. & 7:00 - 9:00 p.m. A Funeral Service celebrating Rose’s life will take place on Friday at 11:30 a.m. at the Funeral Home with Elder Nancy Melnyk officiating. Cremation to follow. 

In honor of mom and those that have triumphed over life's many challenges, donations to the Chatham-Kent Women's Centre & the Canadian Cancer Society - Gallbladder Cancer would greatly be appreciated by the family.
