Obituary of Margaret Bennett

BENNETT, Margaret Elizabeth 'Margie' - Passed away peacefully on Monday at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance in the presence of family after a courageous battle with cancer. Daughter of the late Nora and James Maguire. One brother George 'Glenn' Maguire (2010) deceased. Margie was the beloved wife of the late Al Bennett (1993), loving mother of Michael (Heather) of Chatham, Robert (Suzanne) of London, Jayme of Calgary and Brian (Rhonda) of Chatham. She was loved and adored by her grandchildren Lauren and Erin Bennett; Tyler Bennett; Meagan (husband Shawn Tomlinson), Brandon and Courtney Boyce; Kyle and Katelyn Negri. Margie worked for many years at T. Eatons Co. Ltd. and as ER secretary at St. Joseph's Hospital. She dedicated her life to her children and grandchildren, a very independent and strong woman, especially in the time after Al's passing and dealing with illness “her way.” She was a faithful member of First Presbyterian Church, enjoyed daily walks in south Chatham with her lifelong friend Mary Moon and time with 'the morning gang' at the Park Ave. Tim Hortons. The family wishes to thank everyone in the CKHA Emergency Room, Diagnostic Imaging and Medicine Floor for their wonderful care, as well as the CCAC, Bayshore Home Health and Dr. Fortin's staff at Vic Hospital. Special blessings to Dr. Jacqueline Wolting and Dr. Lindsey Sutherland and office staff Nancy DeClark and Barb Light-Baillargeon for their loving kindness and compassion in making Mom comfortable these past months. And a special thank you to Rev. Mike Maroney for his inspirational visits with Margie and family. In honouring Margie's wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be no visitation or service. A family celebration will be held in the spring. Donations to the First Presbyterian Church or the CKHA Foundation Diagnostic Imaging Campaign in Margie's name would be appreciated by the family.
