VERBRUGGEN: Madelene Rose (DeBaere)- A resident of Chatham, Madelene Verbruggen passed away at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance - Chatham Campus with her daughter and friends at her side on Sunday, August 14, 2016 at the age of 78. Born in Chatham, Madelene was the daughter of the late Alfonse and Emily (Koekhuyt) DeBaere. Beloved lifelong wife of the late Alphonse (2014). Loving mother of Christine Amelia of Chatham. Predeceased by her beloved son Dennis Verbruggen (1975) and her brother Gustaff DeBaer (1945). Also missed by many friends and extended family. Madelene thoroughly enjoyed gardening and sharing her produce with her friends and neighbours. She was also very proud of her home. She will be remembered for her kindness and how she enjoyed talking to people. Family will receive friends at St. Agnes Catholic Church, 52 Croydon Street, Chatham on Thursday, August 18, 2016 from 10:00 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday at 11:00 a.m. with Fr. Jim Higgins celebrant. Cremation has taken place and a private family interment will be held at a later date.
