Obituary of Donald Gordon 'Don' Pickering

PICKERING: Donald Gordon “Don” – Of Komoka, and formerly of Ridgetown, Don Pickering passed away suddenly on Friday, January 3, 2014 at the age of 71. Born in Harwich Township, Don was the son of Gordon and Lena (Osborne) Pickering. Beloved husband of 49 years to Beth Pickering (nee Clark). Loving father of David & Margaret Pickering of LaSalle, Becky & Scott Turner of London and his late infant son Jamie. Proud grandfather of Lauren Turner, Rachel Turner, Samantha Little and Kyle Little. Dear brother to Jack & Nancy Pickering of R.R. # 3 Kent Bridge and Anne & Jim Duffy of R.R. # 3 Sombra. Brother-in-law to John & Joyce Clark of McKay’s Corners, Sandy and Laurie Clark of R.R. # 2 Ridgetown and Loraine & Andy Low of London. Also missed by many nieces, nephews, friends and extended family. Don will be remembered for his infectious laugh, his teasing personality, his joy of life, his athletic ability and most of all his love for his family. He was renowned in the area for his skills as a fastball pitcher, and his son David had the pleasure of playing along side him for one year. Don had farmed all of his life, until his retirement when he found his passion for golfing, and more recently pickleball and shuffleboard. A Graveside Service for Don will held at Greenwood Cemetery in Ridgetown at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 8, 2014.
