Obituary of Gosling 'Gus' DeBeer

DeBeer: Gosling “Gus”. A resident of Chatham, Gus DeBeer passed away peacefully on November 6, 2013 at Chatham-Kent Health Alliance. He was born in Friesland, The Netherlands, 77 years ago on December 9, 1935. Beloved husband and best friend of Nancy (Freeman) DeBeer. Loving father of John of Stratford, and Barbara (Michael) McDonnell of Calgary. Much loved Gramps of Nicole (Chris) Wilton of Mitchell, Jayme (Andrew) Barnes of Seaforth, and one step-grandson James Leistra of Edmonton. Papa Gus to Kylie, Daulton, and Cole Wilton, Bryton DeBeer, and Noah Barnes. Gus is predeceased by his parents John DeBeer (1961) & Hattie (Cuperes) DeBeer Dykstra (1986), sister Hattie (DeBeer) Vanderschaaf (1996), and brother-in-law Rinse Vanderschaaf (1998). Fondly remembered by three nieces Lou (Clare) DeJonge, Anne (Dan) Mugridge, and Theresa (Gregg) Fysh, as well as several nieces and nephews in the Buschemeyer Family. His dry sense of humour will be greatly missed by family and friends. Family will receive friends at the McKinlay Funeral Home, 459 St. Clair Street, Chatham on Thursday from 2:00-4:00 & 7:00-9:00 p.m. Funeral Service at the Funeral Home on Friday November 8, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Dirk Zinner of Seventh Day Adventist Church officiating. Interment to follow at Botany Cemetery, Howard Township. Memorial donations to the Cancer Society, Diabetes Association, OSPCA, or ADRA are welcomed as expressions of sympathy.
