Obituary of Leona Mae Meredith

Meredith, Leona Mae, a resident of R.R. #6, Thamesville. Leona Meredith passed away suddenly at her home on Tuesday April 2, 2013 at the age of 84. Born in Harwich Township, daughter of the late Earle & Mary (Smith) Van Horne. Beloved wife of the late Blake Edgar Meredith (1994). Dear mother of Terry & Cathy Meredith, Chatham; Mike & Lori Meredith, Chatham; Kirk & Sandra Meredith, Kingsville; Nancy & Peter Check, Cambridge; Linda & Bruce Wood, Georgetown; Vicki & Marty Pawlak, Wallaceburg; and Brad Meredith, Edmonton, Alberta. She will be missed by 14 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. Sister of Glenn & Nita Van Horne, St. Catherines; Ray & Marie Van Horne, Chatham; Allan Van Horne, Chatham and the late Donne Van Horne and twin sisters Marilyn DeBeck and Marlene Manneke. Also survived by brother-in-law John DeBeck; sister-in-law Bonnie Van Horne, and several nieces and nephews. Leona was a lifetime resident of Chatham Township; a member of the Women’s Institute of Kent Bridge; the Louisville Ladies Aid; she loved her cards and held the weekly family poker games at her home. Friends will be received at the McKinlay Funeral Home, 459 St. Clair St., Chatham on Thursday April 4, 2013 from 2:00-4:00 & 7:00-9:00 p.m. The Funeral Service will be conducted at the Funeral Home on Friday at 1:30 p.m. with Rev. John Anderson officiating. Cremation to follow with interment in Van Horne Cemetery at a later date.
