Obituary of Scott Douglas Rankin

Rankin, Scott Douglas, a resident of R.R. #7, Chatham. Mr. Scott Douglas Rankin passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family on March 24, 2013 at the age of 59. Scott was born in Chatham on February 14, 1954. He was the youngest of 8 children born to the late Elva (Gray) (2000) and Robert Rankin (1977). He is survived by his loving wife for nearly 38 years, Judy (Szucs) Rankin and their four adoring children: Kelly and Matthew Hart (Pain Court), Erin and Raymond Roy (McGregor), Katherine and Steven Lacina (Chatham) and Jeffrey Rankin (London). He will be missed by his seven precious grandchildren: Delaney, Bennett and Adelade Hart; Graham and Derek Roy, Abbigail and Lauren Lacina. Beloved brother of Lillian Kuchmy, Laurel Rankin, Lowell Rankin, Steven Rankin, John (Brenda) Rankin; brother-in-law to Sue Rankin and Dave French. Also survived by father-in-law Joseph Szucs, brother-in-law Michael & Annette Szucs and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Predeceased by his sister Myrna French (1982), brother Gregory Rankin (2006), twin grandsons Emmett & Emmanuel Roy (2008), mother-in-law Mary Szucs (2011). Scott & Judy were the proprietors of Rankin General Store for 27 years where they made many lasting memories raising their family in a wonderful community. Scott was an active member of his community as a life long member of Dover Centre Church, long time member of the Mocha Shriners and Masonic Lodge and an active member and supporter of the Conservative Party. In addition to his family business, he was a tool and die maker by trade at Eaton Yale and Oxford Automotive in Chatham. He also had a great passion for his farm in Dover Township, and loved to discuss history and politics. Friends will be received at the Funeral Home, 459 St Clair Street in Chatham on Wednesday March 27, 2013 from 1:00-4:00 & 7:00-9:00 p.m. Wellington Victory #46 A.F. & A.M. will conduct a Masonic Lodge Memorial Service Wednesday at 6:45 p.m. The Funeral Service will be conducted by Rev. Kim Cooper from the funeral home on Thursday at 1:30 p.m. Interment at Owen Cemetery to follow. Donations in memory of Scott to Dover Centre Church would be appreciated.
