Obituary of Garry Wilfred Pidgeon

A longtime resident of Chatham, Garry Wilfred Pidgeon passed away peacefully with his loving family by his side on Friday, June 24, 2022 at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance in his 84th year. 

Garry was the son of the late John & Jean (nee Brodie) Pidgeon. 

Forever remembered by his three sons: Kim Pidgeon (Dawn), Chris Pidgeon (Mary) & Todd Pidgeon (Chris).

Grandfather of Stacey (Matt), Niki, Leah, Timber, Amy, Cindy, Megan & Oliver.

Great-grandfather of Leighton, Rhett, Mav, Annabelle, Vance, Dylan & Cole.

Garry started his career with Frank Pidgeon & Sons Construction, moving on to Ankrey Construction. From construction, he moved into his professional career of Real Estate & Insurance, and was President of the Chatham Real Estate Board for 5 years. He returned to the farm in Harwich & Howard Townships, farming with his father John, and retired on the farm, across from Maple City Golf Course. Garry volunteered for 16 years at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance as a porter for the Diagnostic Imaging Department and had regular meetings at his "boardroom" table at the MH to discuss world politics. He was a longtime member of the Moose Lodge where he was known as "Pidge". He was an avid boater, motorcyclist, occasional golfer, enjoyed playing racquetball & cheering for the Detroit Lions. Throughout the years, he worked hard and always upheld the importance of family and friends. 

The family would like to extend their sincere appreciation to the staff of the Grand Retirement Resort and to the staff of Chatham-Kent Health Alliance, particularly ICU Department, Kelly RN of Complex Continuing Care, Dr. Sutherland & Nurse Practitioner Corrine for their care and compassion.

Family to receive friends on Thursday, June 30, 2022 from 3:00 - 6:00 pm at the Moose Lodge, 850 Richmond Street, Chatham. A Toast to Dad will be held at 5:00 pm. A Livestream of the Toast will be available on the Funeral Home website. Cremation has taken place with a Burial to be held at a later date.
