Vanderiviere: Jean Irene (nee DeGelas) -
It is with heavy hearts and deep sorrow we announce the passing of Jean Vanderiviere, was taken from us at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance on June 10, 2022 at the age of 81.
Born in Chatham, Jean Vanderiviere was the daughter of Oscar and Alice (D'Haem) DeGelas.
Reunited with her husband Jerome Vanderiviere who passed in January of 2022 after 61 beautiful years of marriage.
Devoted and cherished mother of Chris and Shirley, Keith and Vicki. Loving grandmother to Kory and Kelsy, Kirk and Jaclyn, Owen and Morgan and great-grandmother of Noah.
Survived by her loving sister Mary and her late husband John. Predeceased by Maurice and Bonnie, Frank and Helen. Remembered by many nieces and nephews.
Jean was a true music lover who taught herself how to play the piano in later years of life. She was an avid reader of many, many books. She was a great seamstress and also loved to knit and crochet. She made many sweaters and lots and lots of slippers for everyone.
Family and friends will be received at the Funeral Home, 459 St. Clair Street, Chatham on Monday, June 13, 2022 from 11:00 a.m. until the Funeral Service to celebrate Jean's life at 12:00 p.m. Cremation to follow.
Donations made in memory of Jean to the Canadian Liver Foundation would be appreciated.
