Obituary of Charlie Vasicek

VASICEK: Charles Steve "Charlie" -

A resident of Vasik Line, Blenheim, Charlie Vasicek passed away at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance, Chatham Campus with family at his side on Friday, June 3, 2022 at the age of 94.

Born in Chatham, Charlie was the son of the late Steve and Marie (Bartosek) Vasicek and step-son to the late Anna (Kurecka) Vasicek.

Charlie met his wife Bessie Micka at a dance, and they danced through life together for over 72 years.

Greatest Dad ever to Terry Vasicek (Penny), Lynnsey Vasicek and Sandra Vasicek (late Michael Pistol). Predeceased by his infant son.

Very Proud Grampa to Allen Vasicek (Yara), Jessie Vasicek (Reg), Matthew Slatnik (Jony), Megan Barnett (Mike) and Sam Slatnik.

Dear brother to Lloyd Vasicek (late Sheila).

Brother-in-law to Mary Kurecka.

Predeceased by his sister Mary Vasicek, his brother Flying Officer John Vasicek and his step-siblings Tony Kurecka and Fran Propas.

Dearly missed by nieces, nephews, friends, extended family and his best friend Eli.

Charlie was born and raised on the family farm, and lived in the area his entire life. He enjoyed the playing the accordion, and had been a member of several bands throughout the years. Charlie had a passion for music, airplanes or anything aviation related. He attended air shows, and created model planes and being a co-pilot any chance he could. He had a love of horses, a passion shared with his daughters.

Charlie loved life, his family and everything that came with it.

As per Charlie's wishes, a Celebration of his Life will be held at a later date.

Donations made in memory of Charlie to the Alzheimer Society or the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated.
