Obituary of Gary Fenton

FENTON: Gary Norman -

March 15, 1939 - October 22, 2021

Passed away peacefully with his family by his side.

Beloved son of the late Norman and Laura (nee Sales) Fenton.

Gary was an extremely loving and devoted husband to his wife of 61 years, Joyce (Stevenson).

Devoted father of Terry Fenton, Pam and Dan Zruna and former daughter-in-law Kelly Keeping.

Proud Papa to Cassidy Fenton, Konnor Zruna and Emelia Zruna. They were his pride and joy.

Brother to Ruth Cooper, Sandra Benoit-Verkaik and Keith and Sharon Fenton.

Predeceased by sisters Cheryl Ann Fenton, Marie Bechard, Donna Shanks and brothers Wayne and Bryan Fenton.

Dear brother-in-law to Norine and Larry Glasier, Bev and Les Stevenson and Sherry Stevenson (Mike Harry).

Gary owned and operated Fenton's Auto Paint Shop with his brothers until his retirement in 2010.

He served as Past President of the Chatham Kinsmen Club where he made lifelong friendship that he cherished.

Gary worked closely for many years with the Chatham Police Department to promote safety in schools acting as Elmer the safety elephant. He wore the Elmer suit proudly to many schools over the years. He was involved in installing all of the safety signs around the entrances to Chatham.

He was a member of the Fletcher United Church and choir. He cherished his church family.

Gary was also known as the soup man, making and delivering his homemade soup.

Gary was kind, loving, generous and happiest when his family was together. We will never forget the love we felt from him.

The family will be remembering Gary with a private service.

Friends and family planning an expression of remembrance are asked to consider the Chatham-Kent Hospice Foundation or a charity of your choice. Words will never be enough to thank Dr. Bailey for her extraordinary care. To the heroes at CKHA and the Chatham-Kent Hospice, we are thankful for your excellent care. We would like to thank Gary's home care nurse, Mary Beth. We looked forward to your visits. Thank you to our neighbours and friends for your support and love.
