Obituary of Lyle Edwin Dawson

Dawson: Lyle Edwin -

A resident of Chatham, Lyle Dawson peacefully passed away with Audrey at his side at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance on September 10, 2021 at the age of 95. 

Born in Port Alma, Lyle was the son of the late Wesley and Verda (nee Peters) Dawson. 

Beloved husband of 65 years to Audrey (nee Morningstar) Dawson.

Loving father to Christie (Tom) Coatsworth, Harvey (Tracey Keates) Dawson, Melanie (Osamu) Kobayashi, Paul (Julie) Dawson, Steven (Wayne Bartlett) Dawson, Robert (Glenna Greene) Dawson, Miki (Jody Nedelak) Dawson, and the late Dale (survived by Alison) Dawson.

Grandfather to Scott, Ian, Meredith, Reid, Elizabeth, Tim, Dan, Luke, Ella, Connor, Washington, Megan, Anna, Indiana, Armand, Kalyb, and 14 great grandchildren.

Predeceased by his siblings Audrey Morgan, Roy (survived by Doreina) Dawson and Glenn (survived by Bonnie) Dawson.

Brother in law to Irene (late Gordon) Campbell.

Lyle will be remembered for his love of farming and innovations.  His family will remember his competitive card playing and camping in the outdoors with his family.  He loved swimming and living on the lake.  He had a spiritual nature, enjoyed preserving trees, and had a true passion for the outdoors.

Visitation will take place outside at Shanks Cemetery, 3900-4308 Talbot Trail, Port Alma, on the lake front where Lyle farmed most of his life.  Visitation will occur on Monday September 13, 2021 from 1:00pm to 2:00pm with an outdoor funeral service to follow at 2:00pm with Pastor Eric Skillings officiating.  An interment and reception will follow under a tent at the cemetery. Facilities will be provided. 

Donations made in memory of Lyle to the Lower Thames Conservation Authority or by cheque to Two Creeks Conservation Area or a charity of choice would be appreciated.
