Obituary of Hilko DeGroot

Hilko “Bert” DeGroot passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, February 20th, 2021 at his home.

 

Born in Holland on October 23, 1936, son of the late Tina and Jerry DeGroot.  

 

Bert will be remembered as Kingsville and Cottam’s milkman, and the cheerful paperman at Linden Towers.

 

Bert will be missed by his wife of 62 years Beatrice DeGroot (nee Thrasher). He will be forever remembered by his sister Jane Lammers (Hank), his children Tim (Dawn), Susan (Mark), Tom (Ann), Sandy, Sharon (Bill), Shirleen (Gord), and Shelley, twenty-four grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren, with two more on the way.

 

Cremation has taken place. A Memorial Service will be held at the Funeral Home, 459 St. Clair Street, Chatham, on Saturday, March 6th, 2021 at 3pm. Those interested in attending the Memorial Service must register by phone (519-351-2040) or via the following link: https://signup.com/go/DeCsxqk

 

The Bereavement Authority of Ontario has mandated that all in attendance must wear a mask. The Memorial Service will also be livestreamed at www.mckinlayfuneralhome.com.
