King, Lucy (nee VanVaerenberghe)


Lucy King passed away surrounded by her loving family at the Wallaceburg Retirement Residence on Saturday, October 3, 2020 at the age of 94. 

Born July 29, 1926, she was the daughter of the late John & Theresa (nee Borion) VanVarenberghe. 

She is reunited with her late husband, Robert (Bob) King (2015) and will be deeply missed by her children,  Cindy Boulley (Alfred), John King (Sue), Lou-Anne Surian (Fred), and Wayne King (Sylvia). 

Dear grandmother of Kevin (Jessica), Mike (Tracy), Christine (John), Jenny (Jeremy), Cory (Terri), Shauna (John), Liam, Chloe, Mike, Elisabeth (Mike), and Brandon, and great-grandmother of  Jacob, Triston, Ethan, Drew, Logan, Lucy, Serena, Isabelle, Kaylee, Cody, Elijah, Payton, Ady, Ethan, Cadence, Nathan, and Charles. 

Predeceased by her siblings, Roger VanVaerenberghe, Albert VanVaereberghe (the late Marion), and Tilly Moran (the late Jim).

Survived by her sister, Judy Roberts (the late Lee), and sisters-in-law, Mary VanVaerenberghe and Isabella King.

Lucy helped her husband Bob with King's Plate Catering and the Saxony Restaurant for many years. She enjoyed to travel to many places, spend time in her garden and have a nice glass of wine. Lucy loved to play cards at the Canadian Belgium Dutch Club and spent many hours volunteering at senior homes. She will forever miss her Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy. Her family will remember her always. 

The family would like to extend their sincere appreciation to the staff of the Wallaceburg Retirement Residence for their tremendous care and compassion for Lucy throughout her time there. A special Thank You to her great-granddaughter, Kaylee, for her dedication to caring for her great-grandmother. 

As per Lucy's wishes, cremation has taken place and a Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
