Obituary of Frank Slavik

SLAVIK: Frank Bartholomew -

A resident of Chatham, Frank Slavik passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, September 29, 2020 at the age of 89.

Born in Blenheim, Frank was the son of the late Bart and Anna (Tomek) Slavik.

Beloved husband and soulmate of Barb (nee Sparks) with whom he shared 63 wonderful years, side-by-side.

Loving father to Gail Heringer (Andy) of Strathroy and Cindy Slavik of Windsor.

Proud Grandpa to Thomas Franklin Heringer and Olivia Anne Heringer who cherished him greatly.

Predeceased by his brother Joseph Slavik.

Survived by siser-in-law Rosemary Slavik of Chatham.

Dearly missed by his sidekick "Tiger" and grandcat "Finnegan".

Also missed by nieces, nephews, friends and extended family.

Frank began his teaching career at John McGregor when it first opened in 1957, and spent the next 32 years teaching automotive, where he was highly respected.  He was a member of the Kent Historic Auto Club, where he enjoyed many friendships and shenanigans. In his retirement, he enjoyed restoring antique cars and was the recipient of numerous awards for his 1926 Willys-Knight. He was especially proud of his 1967 Firebird, which he fully restored himself. Frank had a great sense of humour and loved sharing laughs with and imparting wisdom to his grandchildren. Frank was always there to help out and selflessly gave his time and energy to others. He was a pillar of strength for his daughters.
