Obituary of Joe Porter

Joseph “Joe” Raymond Porter Jr., born February 1, 1951 in Windsor, ON, passed away peacefully July 13th, 2020 at Windsor Regional Hospital.

He was the beloved father of Joseph Christoper Porter (Elyse), Joshua Raymond Porter (Samantha), and Jean (nee Byers) Scarola (Loretto). Dear grandfather of Anthony and Sofia Scarola. Predeceased by parents Joseph Raymond Porter Sr. (1972) and Alis Millie (nee Tudor) Porter (1988) and sisters Evelyn Joanne Porter (2005) and Linda Edna Irene (nee Jones) Primus (1977). Cherished by twin brother James Richard Porter. Dear brother of Ronald C. Jones (Billie), Sheila Louise (nee Porter) Quigley, John Russell Porter (Diane), Gladys Alis (nee Porter) Hicks (George), Floyd W. Porter, Barbara Grace Porter (Roland), and Christopher Raymond Porter (Terry). He will be remembered by many nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.

Joe worked in the automotive industry at GM for nearly 30 years and was cherished by friends and co-workers alike. Joe was known for his quick wit and sense of humour, always ready to share a laugh. He possessed a clear understanding of what was important in life, his family and the simple things. Joe often departed a gathering or ended a phone call by expressing kind words, giving advise to his sons, and reminding those present to take care of one another. When Joe wasn’t making sure his sons were well taken care of, he could be found in a faraway warm destination, out on the golf course, in the gym, or working on his latest puzzle. Joe enjoyed watching sports or listening to the news and was eager to discuss current events and politics. Joe expressed his love and generosity to those around him freely. He will be missed by many and remembered for his passion for music, films, golf, as well as his love for his two boys.

A small gathering will be held for immediate family members on Friday July 17th, 2020 at McKinlay Funeral Home in Chatham. Donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
