SAMWAYS: Herbert Raymond Christopher (The Third) A resident of Chatham, Chris Samways passed away peacefully surrounded by his family at Windsor Regional Hospital on Friday, February 14, 2020 at the age of 57. Born in Chatham, Chris was the beloved son of Herbert “Sandy” and Dianne (Cook) Samways. Dear brother to Dana McGrail (late Bill 1995) of Cookstown and Robin Samways (Dorinda Murray) of Maynooth. Special uncle to Klarisa McGrail (James McNeil) of Ottawa. Also dearly missed by friends and his Aunt Sally McGregor (late Bill 2015) cousins Heather McGregor-Brown, Ian McGregor, Shelia McGeachy, Aunt Marilynn Cook and cousin Greg Cook. Predeceased by grandparents Margaret (1994) and Herbert (1983) Samways, Phyllis (2002) and Raymond (1983) Cook. In his early years, Chris enjoyed playing hockey and later became passionate about motorcycles and 70’s/ 80’s rock music. From youth it was his gift for music which enriched his life, leading him across Canada including the beautiful Okanagan Valley. As a free spirit, playing guitar, keyboard, harmonica, drums and flute, he touched the lives of so many like minded individuals. His journey would also include his work as a roadie for Pink Floyd, an accomplishment he was truly proud of. Chris’s sharp mind was apparent by a remarkable aptitude for advanced computer technology, gadgetry, chess and virtual golf. Chris was a gentle soul with a heart of gold and will be forever loved and missed. A private family gathering will be held at later date.
