Obituary of Chad Stephen Martens

Martens, Chad On Sunday, January 5, 2020, Chad Martens passed away suddenly and unexpectedly at his residence in his 39th year. Born March 11, 1981, Chad was the son of Krisan Sereda (nee Kwasyncia) (Fred Feenstra) & Stephen Martens (Cecelia). Devoted father of Ella Rose (Melissa Myers, mother) and special father of Samantha, Veronica & Claire Poolman (Melanie Reaume, mother). Remembered always by his brother, Brandon and step-brothers, Jessie & Zachary Martens. Chad will be sadly missed by his girlfriend, Sarah Nicol. Loving grandson of Thomas & Betty (nee Flynn) Braekevelt, the late Edward Kwasyncia & Doris, the late Alphonse & Isabelle (nee Bernstein) Martens and Germaine & the late John Tulen. Dear nephew and cousin of many aunts, uncles and cousins. Chad will be missed by the Flynn Family, the extended Martens Family, the Mary Feenstra (the late Henry) and the Feenstra Family, the Myers Family, the William & Olga Sereda Family and will be missed by many friends. Chad attended St. Joseph's Elementary School, Grand Bend Public School, and attended highschool at the Pines. He graduated from St. Clair College - Chatham as a Registered Practical Nurse and was working the last 3 years as a Personal Care Assistant with the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance. Chad was an amazing nurse, caring, compassionate and devoted to all of his patients and he loved all his coworkers. Often called an old soul, he could connect and sit down with anyone and make a connection with them. Chad was a member of Air Cadets, Beavers & Scouts throughout his life. He loved playing guitar & singing (he was the best Elvis impersonator), camping in Algonquin Park and enjoyed all things nature. He loved everyone and life and will be deeply missed by all that knew him. Family to receive friends on Friday, January 10, 2020 from 1:00 - 4:00 pm & 6:00 - 9:00 pm at McKinlay Funeral Home, 459 St. Clair Street, Chatham. A Funeral Service will take place on Saturday morning at 11:00 am at the Funeral Home with Pastor Darrell VanSickle to officiate. Cremation to follow. In memory of Chad, donations may be made to an Education Fund for Ella Rose (cheques only, payable to Krisan Sereda). Online condolences may be left for the family at www.mckinlayfuneralhome.com.
