Obituary of MaryLou Handysides

 

Handysides, MaryLou (nee Freeman)

MaryLou passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Wednesday, October 2, 2019 at the CK-Hospice at the age of 81.

She was born in Chatham and was the daughter of the late Morley and Lila (nee Gale) Freeman.

Beloved wife of the late James "Jim" Handysides (2006).

Loving mother of Kim Handysides-Suliteanu and her husband Edward of Montreal and Kayleen and her husband Robert Latour of Ottawa.

Sadly missed by grandchildren Lisa, Jennifer, Michael and Samantha.

Dear sister of the late Edythe LaPointe, Gladys and the late Gerald Martin, Joan and Howard Milner and sister-in-law of Joan and Don Arner.

Fondly missed by her nieces, nephews and many dear friends.

MaryLou was a retired teacher with the Kent County Board of Education. She established Tai-Chi Harmony, where she taught for twenty years and recently formed a local support group through the CPFF for people with lung disorders.

The family will receive friends at the McKinlay Funeral Home, 459 St. Clair Street Chatham, ON, on Sunday, October 6, 2019 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., with the Funeral Service to follow.

Cremation to take place with a private family interment at a later date.

Donations in memory of MaryLou to the Canadian Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation would be appreciated.
