Smith, Brian Murray

Brian passed away peacefully with his family by his side at the CKHA-Chatham Campus on Tuesday, May 21, 2019 at the age of 67.

He was born in Chatham on May 2, 1952 and was the son of the late Murray Scott and Lillian Rose (nee Field) Smith.

Beloved and devoted husband of Vaughn Richelle (nee Nesdoly) Smith of Chatham.

Loving father of Carrie Smith and Brielynn Smith both of Kingsville.

Sadly missed by grandchildren, Mekenie Green, Bryton Green, Thomas Dudgeon and Alexandra Dudgeon all of Knigsville.

Dear brother of Sandra Buzwah of Chatham, Ron (Nancy) Smith of Chatham and Kathie (Dave) Stoneham of Shelburne.

Fondly remembered by many nieces and nephews.

He received his commission scroll into the Royal Canadian Air Force Reserves in June of 1972 and served with the reserves in many capacities within the cadet program.

He was a glider and power pilot.

He also was an instructor teaching many thousands of cadets to fly through summer programs.

As well as running the South Western Ontario Gliding Centre for more than 30 years.

He reached the rank of Lieutenant Colonel before retiring.

Brian worked as a Quality Engineer with many auto companies with his final position at Fleetwood Metal in Oldcastle.

Brian was a member of the Chatham Kinsmen club for many years holding various positions within the club.

Cremation has taken place.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the McKinlay Funeral Home, 459 St. Clair Street, Chatham, ON.
