Obituary of Mary Ellen Cooper

Cooper, Mary Ellen (nee Knight) - 

A resident of Chatham, Mary Ellen Cooper passed away surrounded by her loving family on Thursday, November 15, 2018 at the Chatham-Kent Hospice in her 88th year. 

Born in Chatham on September 4, 1930, Mary Ellen was the daughter of the late Albert & Bella (nee Goudreau) Knight. 

Wife of the late Donald Ernest Cooper (2006). 

Remembered always by her son, Brian (Sandy Young) of Calgary. Predeceased by her sons, Paul, Mark & Scott.

Grandmother of Amy, Dan, & Lauren Cooper. 

Predeceased by her siblings, Robert and Francis Knight.

Missed by many nieces, nephews and friends. 

Mary Ellen worked with Fund With Friends for many years, was a volunteer for the Women's Shelter, an active member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 642, and the Merlin Friendship Club. She was a longtime member of the Port Glasgow Trailer Park for over 30 years and will be very missed by her many longtime friends. Mary Ellen enjoyed playing Bingo, traveling & painting. 

Friends to be received on Sunday, November 18, 2018 from 2:00 - 4:00 pm & 7:00 - 9:00 pm at McKinlay Funeral Home, 459 St. Clair Street, Chatham. A Funeral Service will take place on Monday at 11:00 am at the Funeral Home. Burial to follow in Maple Leaf Cemetery. 

Donations may be made to the Chatham-Kent Hospice Foundation or to the Chatham-Kent Women's Shelter.
