Obituary of Elizabeth Adams

ADAMS, Elizabeth (Betty) Croker (nee Cowling)

A resident of Chatham, Elizabeth (Betty) Adams passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance on Wednesday, May 16, 2018 at the age of 83.

Born in Aberdeen, Scotland Betty, was the daughter of the late Robert and Elizabeth (nee Croker) Cowling.

She was the beloved wife for 43 years of the late Alexander Adams (1998).

Loving mother of twin daughters, Christine (Gordon Prince) Martin of London and Sandra (William) Charron of Chatham.

Devoted “nana” to Johnathan (Colla) Martin, Jennifer (Brent) Haugh, Jeffery Martin, Heather Prince, David (Elissa) Charron and Krysten (Brady) Birkin.

Proud great-nana and Tai ma to A.J. Ethan, Callie, Greenlea, Hudson, Maeve, Kinsley, Paisley and Asher.

Also survived by niece Joyce Martin-Bruce of Chatham and nephew, Don Martin of Blenheim.

She is predeceased by her two sisters, Annie (Tommy) Annand and Margaret Gray of Scotland.

Betty, Alex and their girls immigrated to Canada in 1969 at the request of Alex’s sister and brother-in-law, Peggy and Bill Martin.  This was a very big decision and tremendous sacrifice as they left behind all of their family and friends to make a better life for themselves and their twin daughters.

She retired from Sears Canada after 25 years of dedicated service.

The family would like to extend their deepest appreciation to the staff at the Chatham Retirement Resort for the few years she lived there and also to the staff of 3rd Floor Complex Continuing Care at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance who provided such loving and compassionate care right up until her passing.
