Obituary of Glen Barton

A resident of Chatham, Glen Barton peacefully passed away at the Chatham-Kent Hospice, surrounded by his loving wife, children & nephew Glen Kirkland, on Tuesday, January 9, 2018 at the age of 66. 

Born in Chatham, Glen was the son of Margaret (Paul Albert) Curtis & the late William Barton.  

Beloved husband & best friend of 43 years to Donna (nee Blazukiewicz).

Loving father of his son, Matthew (Jessica) Barton of Franklin, IN; his daughter, Allison Matteis of Chatham, 

Devoted grandpa to Jace, Tanner, Grayson, Victoria and Nicholas. He always encouraged his grandchildren to do their best and most importantly ensure they develop a sense of self esteem to carry them forward.  

Brother to Barb (Don) Phair, Vi (Mike Papps) Burlein, & Julie (Rick) Chambers.

Remembered always by his brother-in-law, Jim Steele.

Predeceased by his step-father Armand Curtis, sister Betsy Steele, brother Bob Myers and sister Deanne McPhail. 

Missed by several nieces and nephews.

Glen loved spending time with his family and friends; be it at home BBQ-ing, on the golf course or the hockey rink. He retired as a Principal, former teacher, with the Lambton-Kent District School Board. He was a kind, patient man with an extremely calming presence and was very well respected & respectful towards others. Glen was always one to have a very positive attitude and looked on the brighter side of situations.

The family would like to extend their deepest appreciation to Dr. Zeke Milkovic, Dr. Sullivan, Dr. Brisbin, the Oncology Staff & nursing staff at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance. As well as the Oncology staff at the London Health Sciences Centre, Dr. Louzada & nurse, Donna. Special thank you to friends & family that visited Glen during his illness, providing him with comforting thoughts, well wishes, delicious meals and desserts.  

In honor of Glen's wishes, a Private Memorial Celebration of Life will be held in Glen's memory. Cremation has taken place. 

In lieu of flowers, donations made in memory of Glen to the Chatham-Kent Hospice Foundation would be appreciated.
