Ryken: Francine Antonia (Gardien) -
A resident of Chatham, Francine passed away at the Chatham-Kent Hospice on December 17, 2017 at the age of 86.
Born in Wateringen, The Netherlands, Francine was the daughter of the late David and Adriana (Vos) Gardien.
Beloved wife of 55 years to John C. Ryken. (2015).
Loving mother of Jeanette Ryken of Ottawa, Two Sons, Robert (Annette) Ryken of London, John (Janice) Ryken of Chattanooga, Tennessee.
Missed by grandchildren, Alexandra, Madison and Marlena.
Dear sister of Jack (and the late Margaret) Gardien of Caledonia, ON; Peter and his wife Riet Gardien of Auckland, New Zealand, Tonny (and the late Johann) Muntslag of Paramaribo, Surinam, Jeanne and her husband, Aad Brabander of Poeldijk, Netherlands and Cor and Tilly Gardien of the Netherlands.
Pre-deceased by her brothers, Luke (survived by Trace), Martin, Theo (and late Alice) and John (survived by Coby) Gardien all of the Netherlands.
Fondly remembered by many nieces, nephews, extended family and many friends.
Francine was a member of the Cathoilc Womens' League, an avid Bridge Player, long time bowler, past member of the Skating Club, and volunteered for Meals on Wheels, the Annual Church Bazaar, Funeral luncheons and always on the go! She had an amazing sense of humour, positive outlook and a real joy to be around. A special thanks go out to all the staff from the Home Care of LHIN and the Nurses, PSW’s and staff at the Chatham Hospice.
The Family will receive friends at the Funeral Home, 459 St. Clair Street, Chatham, ON, on Friday, December 22, 2017 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.
Vigil prayers will be held at the funeral home Friday evening at 7 p.m.
The Funeral Mass will be held at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, 145 Victoria Ave, Chatham, ON, on Saturday, December 23, 2017 at 11 a.m., with Fr. Frank Leslie, Celebrant. This is a Celebration of her life on her birthday.
Interment in Maple Leaf Cemetery following the Funeral Mass.
