Obituary of Betty Eileen Nash

NASH: Betty Eileen (nee Dodson) -

A resident of Chatham, Betty Nash passed away peacefully at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance - Chatham Campus with her family at her side on Thursday, June 8, 2017 at the age of 91.

Raised in Comber, Betty was the daughter of the late George and Etna (Shaufler) Dodson.

Beloved wife of the late Eldon (1973). Companion of the late Frank Gross (2006).

Loving mother of James 'Jim' Nash of Chatham and Jayne Smith of Port Lambton.

Predeceased by her brother John Dodson and his late wife Bernice.

Dear aunt of Jacqueline Robinson, Richard Dodson, Carol McFadden, Richard McFadden, Raymond McFadden, Murray Campbell and Ann Mayes. Dear friend of Frank's sons, Paul and Phil Gross. Dearly missed by the Shaufler cousins.

Also survived by great-nieces, great-nephews, friends and extended family.

Betty was a member of Zion United Church and the former Chatham Baptist Church. She was a life member of the Lena Dick Mission Circle and the Junior Hospital League (PGH). She had volunteered at the Public General Hospital and St. Andrew's Residence for many years. Betty enjoyed her time working at Maddocks-Myers Jewellers and Young's Jewellers.

Family will receive friends at the McKinlay Funeral Home, 459 St. Clair Street, Chatham on Monday, June 12, 2017 from 12:30 pm until the Funeral Service at 1:30 pm with Rev. Mike Maroney officiating. Interment to follow at Maple Leaf Cemetery, Chatham.

Donations made in memory of Betty to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, Canadian Cancer Society or Compassion Canada would be appreciated.
