Obituary of Allen Lee Grant

GRANT: Allen Lee - A resident of Chatham, Allen Grant passed away at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance, Chatham Campus with his family at his side on Sunday, March 5, 2017 at the age of 90. Born in Kingsville, Allen was the son of the late Donald Grant and Margaret Fox (Robert). Beloved husband of 61 years to Dorothy (nee Huff). Loving father of Christine Dengel (John) of Chatham. Proud Papa of Hilary Choi (Danny) of New York and Jonathan Dengel (Stacie) of Chatham. Proud Great-Papa of Daniel Choi. Dear brother to Diane Lockhart (Don), Mary Legacy (Jim), Judy McCarthy, Peter Fox (Beth) and Bill Fox (Kathy). Also missed by many nieces, nephews, friends and extended family. Allen was an avid golfer for 72 years. He was a member at Maple City Country Club and was a long time volunteer with the Junior Golf Program. He was a voracious reader with a love of history. Allen retired from Chrylser after working for 42 years in the purchasing department. Allen loved nothing more than spending time with his family and friends. Family will receive friends at the McKinlay Funeral Home, 459 St. Clair Street, Chatham on Thursday from 2:00 - 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 - 9:00 p.m. A Funeral Service will be held at the Funeral Home at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, March 10, 2017 with Rev. John Giurin officiating. A private family interment will be held at later date. A bursary for Junior Golfers will be established in Allen's name.
