Obituary of Sylvia Hawryluk

HAWRYLUK: Sylvia (nee Yager) - A resident of Chatham, and formerly of Blenheim, Sylvia Hawryluk passed away at Meadow Park Nursing Home on Thursday, September 22, 2016 at the age of 90. Born in Riverside, Sylvia was the daughter of the late Pearl Krug (Archie Thompson) and Albert Yager. Beloved wife of 68 years to the late Bill Hawryluk (2015). Loving mother to Larry (Marie) of Orillia, Michael (Lori) of Essex, Paul (Gwen) of Chatham and Kathy Pullen of Lady's Smith, B.C. Proud grandmother to Peter, Tim (Selena), Kim, Kate (Marcel), Melanie (Jon) and Paul (Robyn). Great-grandmother to several great-grandchildren. Predeceased by her sisters Margaret 'Marney' Manninger, Iona Hall and Ruby Yager and her infant brother George. Step-sister to Ken Thompson. Sister-in law to Frank Manninger of Strathroy. Sadly missed by her best friend Lee Barnes. Also missed by many nieces, nephews, friends and extended family. Sylvia was a World War II Veteran, serving the Navy as a Ward Room Attendant aboard the HMCS Stadacona in Halifax. Special thanks to the staff at Meadow Park and to her roommate Clara for their care and support. A Graveside Service will be held for Sylvia at Pardoville-Union Cemetery at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 29, 2016 with Rev. Bill Terris officiating.
