Smyth: Martha Marie Lena; a resident of R.R. # 2 Merlin since 1950, died Friday July 14, 2006 at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance, Chatham at the age of 76. Born in Winnipeg, Manitoba, daughter of the late Edmund and Margaret (Norman) DeBacker. Beloved wife of 51 years of the late Herbert Smyth (2000). Dear mother of Judy Smyth, Windsor; Ed Smyth, R.R. #2, Merlin and Dee & husband Jim Meurkes, Chatham. Grandmother of Renee LeClerc, Derek Smyth, Ryan Smyth, Shawn Smyth, Amy Francis, David Meurkes and the late Edmund LeClerc (1999). Sister of Dennis DeBacker and the late Minnie Jacques, George DeBacker, Louise Hind, Mary Hadrian and Ken DeBacker. Sister-in-law of Eileen DeBacker, Chatham. Also survived by several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Smyth was a member of St. Luke's United Church and a member of the U.C.W. Friends will be received at the McKinlay Funeral Home, 459 St. Clair St., Chatham on Sunday July 16, 2006 from 2:00-4:30 & 7:00-9:00 p.m. Funeral Service at the Funeral Home on Monday July 18, 2006 at 1:30 p.m. with Rev. Eric Skillings officiating. Interment Pardoville Cemetery. Donations made by cheque to the VON, The Canadian Cancer Society or St. Luke's United Church Memorial Fund appreciated.
